ABOUT ME: Hi! I’m Abby and this year I am a senior studying Civil Engineering with an emphasis in construction. I am absolutely thrilled to be serving at this year’s SWE President! SWE has been a huge part of college experience and I have loved every minute of it! When I actually have free time away from schoolwork and SWE I enjoy running, coffee, yoga, and theater…and of course anything related to Badger sports (football and hockey being my favorites.)

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: Officer since freshman year, School Outreach for 1.5 years, then VP of Outreach and Diversity, and now President. Basically have been involved with every SWE committee at some point.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Marketing/Public Relations Intern at the American Cancer Society. Construction project management internship in San Francisco, CA with DPR Construction. Construction field engineering internship with Hensel Phelps Construction Co. at Shaw Air Force Base, SC. INTEREGR 160 Student Assistant.

ABOUT ME: Hey! I’m Amanda, I’ve been involved in SWE since my senior year when I came to Day of Campus, but technically by doing Boeing Team my freshman year. I love watching and playing sports and especially love watching the Packers, Brewers, Badgers, & college softball. As you can see Bucky and I are in love, he even gives me kisses.

I just got back from studying abroad in Australia and I really enjoy travelling (if you have any questions about study abroad let me know!). Things you might not expect about me: I have been skydiving, bungy jumping, and canyon swinging (close adrenaline junkie) and I have a pet gecko.

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I became really involved with SWE during the 2nd semester of my freshman year. Then, I did a lot of activities with Freshman Committee and through that, I figured out just how fun SWE is!

WORK EXPERIENCE: Swim Instructor at the YMCA and Student Circulation Assistant at Ebling Library for the Medical School. Currently looking for an engineering internship for Summer 2012.

ABOUT ME:Hi SWEsters! My name is Chloe and I am a junior studying EMA. I am the Vice President of Finances this year and I am very excited to be managing SWE’s money this year! I love all things related to airplanes and space.

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE:My SWE involvement started when I attended Day on Campus as a senior in high school. Since then, I have been very involved in various aspects of SWE. Last fall I was the Fundraising officer and I was also the webmaster for the Region H Conference. I love to help out with school outreach and mentoring.

WORK EXPERIENCE:This past spring and summer I was working at Hamilton Sundstrand in Rockford, IL. I gained a lot of experience as a quality engineer and manufacturing engineer working in the aerospace field. I loved working on the shop floor and doing real engineering work! On campus, I work for the UW-Madison Athletic Ticket Office.

ABOUT ME: Hey everyone! My name’s Kristen. I absolutely love the Badger pride in Madison and live for fall football games in Camp Randall Stadium. I love being on the lake and enjoy playing all kinds of sports. My favorite color is blue. I enjoy traveling, hanging out with friends, and watching movies.

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE:: Last year I attended a lot of special event activities and got involved through Big Sib Little Sib and Freshmen committee. I decided to join SWE after going to Day on Campus my senior year in high school and am so glad I did!

WORK EXPERIENCE:Target team member and tutor. I’m planning on getting an internship this summer.

ABOUT ME:Hey guys! I’m Katie and I am super excited to be the fundraising officer this semester! I joined SWE my freshman year and have enjoyed all the events I have had the opportunity to go to! I really enjoy playing the piano, hanging out with my family and friends, and ice skating!

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: II love going to as many SWE events as possible! Some of my favorites have been BSLS, Day on Campus, Halloween at the Zoo and the Chicago Trip.

WORK EXPERIENCE:I had an internship with Kapco last summer where I worked with their industrial engineers and on other various projects.

FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS: I like to walk down State Street and hang out at the Union with my friends. I also really enjoy going to the farmers markets and any Badger game!

ABOUT ME: I am very eager to become a bit more involved in planning and putting on events for SWE, and Girl Scouts is my favorite organization. I was very involved in high school, and coming in to college it was my intention to focus more on studies than student orgs. But after attending a few of the GS events, I really wanted to play a bigger role. I really enjoy working with kids, and have always been a very active volunteer. I love being here in Madison, and I couldn’t imagine myself at any other school besides UW!

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE:I joined SWE as a sophomore on recommendation from a friend. So far most of my involvement has been in Girl Scouts. I have attended a few of the events hosted by the other sections, but I prefer to focus on one area where I can do the most help, especially with a very busy schedule!

WORK EXPERIENCE: I currently work at the front desk of Engineering Student Development, where the ECS, SLC, and study abroad offices are.

I got involved in SWE my first semester freshman year. SWE is a great organization for me because I love to help girls learn about engineering and see how cool math and science can be!

ABOUT ME: Hey! My name’s Mackenzie and I’m so excited for SWE this year! I’m from a small town not far from Madison, I love my family and friends and in my free time I like to play sports (basketball, volleyball, biking, pretty much anything active), hang out with friends, travel and cook.

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: : My freshman year I was Engineering Expo Co-Chair and last year I got to plan the Evening with Industry event. This year I’m excited to be Marketing Chair where I’ll advertise all the great events and opportunities that SWE offers. I’ve also participated in Big Sib/Little Sib, Day on Campus, SWE National and Regional conferences and lots of other fun things that SWE does!

WORK EXPERIENCE: Summer intern in Manufacturing and Engineering with Dow Chemical, student help in the eHealth office for UW Health, youth basketball referee/coach, cashier at the local hardware store, and now in the process of looking for an internship for the summer of 2013.

WORK EXPERIENCE:I work at an Alzheimer’s Care Facility at home and love it. On campus, I am a lab assistant to Professor Murphy in the CBE department. The lab deals with protein aggregation and the experience has been extremely interesting so far!

FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS:I love the farmer’s market! As well as free food, trying new food, getting ice cream, and being on/in/looking at the lake.

ABOUT ME:Hey everyone! I’m Corrine but I go by Corrie.

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE:I was involved with Girl Scouts my freshman year and both Girl Scouts and school outreach last year. I especially love working with the younger kids; their creativity and ability to grasp engineering and science concepts amazes me!

WORK EXPERIENCE:I’ve had two internships in chemical engineering R&D; one at Bostik, Inc. (an adhesives manufacturer) and one at Andersen Windows and Doors (in the paint and coatings division).

FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS:I enjoy going for runs and exploring different areas of campus that way. I also love attending Badger sporting events (especially hockey and football).

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE:This is only my second semester being involved in SWE but I’m really excited to be the Freshman Committee chair. Last semester I was a part of Freshman Committee and helped to organize Science Olympiad events for School Outreach.

WORK EXPERIENCE:I have been a lifeguard at a local outdoor pool for the last four summers, but you would probably never be able to guess that since I can’t keep a tan to save my life.

FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS:Going to football games, hanging out on the Memorial Union terrace, and going for runs along lakeshore path.

FAVORITE CLASS/PROFESSOR: I don’t think I've taken enough classes here to have a favorite class or professor, but I loved taking Chem 115 with Professor Skinner last semester. It was tough but he always made it interesting and challenging.

ABOUT ME: Hi, my name is Jenna. I love being outdoors and enjoy summer and winter! Some of my favorite things to do are run, snowboard, hang with friends, travel, and relax when I can!

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I attended Day on Campus as a senior in high school and then joined SWE as a freshman. I have participated in many different events with SWE. I have planned dinner and movie nights on the freshman committee last year. I participate in the Boeing Team and of course go to many special events with SWE!

WORK EXPERIENCE: Interned at Zero Zone in North Prairie, WI this past summer. I carried out a time study, redesigned the assembly line, and did facility planning. Currently work for UW-Recreational Sports as an ID Checker and Office Clerk
