ABOUT ME:Hello! My name is Samantha and I’m currently a senior in Mechanical Engineering. SWE inspired me to pursue engineering and has been a major part of my college experience, and I’m so excited to serve as this year’s president. When I’m not studying, working, or at SWE events, I enjoy spending time outdoors, running, cooking, theater, coffee, and traveling (I spent two months studying abroad in Hangzhou, China).

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I’ve been involved with SWE since I attended ETC Camp and Day on Campus in high school. I’ve been Special Events Officer twice, Vice President of Communications, an ETC Camp counselor, and have participated in almost every committee at some point.

ABOUT ME: Hey! My name’s Mackenzie and I’m so excited for SWE this year! I’m from a small town not far from Madison, I love my family and friends and in my free time I like to play sports (basketball, volleyball, biking, pretty much anything active), hang out with friends, travel and cook.

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: : My freshman year I was Engineering Expo Co-Chair and last year I got to plan the Evening with Industry event. This year I’m excited to be Marketing Chair where I’ll advertise all the great events and opportunities that SWE offers. I’ve also participated in Big Sib/Little Sib, Day on Campus, SWE National and Regional conferences and lots of other fun things that SWE does!

WORK EXPERIENCE: Summer intern in Manufacturing and Engineering with Dow Chemical, student help in the eHealth office for UW Health, youth basketball referee/coach, cashier at the local hardware store, and now in the process of looking for an internship for the summer of 2013.

FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS: Relax at the Terrace and Unions, visit the Farmer’s Market and explore and experience all that Madison has to offer!

ABOUT ME:Hi SWEsters! I am a 5th year senior this year and excited to be VP of External Relations! I have studied abroad in Singapore which was absolutely amazing! I think my favorite thing to do is travel because this summer I also spent two weeks in England and France visiting friends I had made in Singapore.

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: Currently I am the VP of External Relations but I also have been Mentoring Co-Chair and Girl Scout Co-Chair.

WORK EXPERIENCE:This past summer I interned with Walsh Construction in Chicago as an Aviation and Special Projects Intern. My previous internships have been for UW Hospital and Clinics and the Village of Waunakee. I also currently work for Engineering Student Development on campus.

ABOUT ME: Hello everyone! I’m a junior in Civil and this is my first semester holding an officer position in SWE, which I’m very excited about! A few of my favorite activities are yoga, biking, and snowboarding. Also, I love my dogs more than anything else in this world (Mom, I hope you never read this)!

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I was December’s SWEster of the month and I’ve been involved with ETC camp committee and community service in the past. I look forward to being involved in Boeing team tech and much more in the future!

ABOUT ME: Hi! I’m Amanda and this year I’m a 5 years senior (or super senior) studying Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in Thermal Energy Systems. I’ve loved having SWE be a part of my life throughout my college career and it has been one of my best decisions I’ve made during my time at UW and I can’t wait for all of the great fun this year will bring! When I’m not studying, doing SWE things, or sleeping, I enjoy going to badger sporting events (especially football and hockey), working out, drinking lots of coffee, and working on building a concrete canoe (yes it floats).

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I’ve been an officer since my sophomore year. I was the Volunteers Chair when we hosted the Regional Conference. 1 year as the Boeing Team Tech Chair, and after that I was the VP-Internal Relations for the spring semester, and now I’m the VP-Finance. Throughout my time here I’ve participated in every SWE committee!

WORK EXPERIENCE: Continuous improvement engineering internship with Oscar Mayer (Kraft Foods) in Madison, WI. I also did the Schlumberger F.I.E.L.D. Camp in Kellysville, OK. Product development internship for Eaton Corporation in Milwaukee, WI. Manufacturing co-op for S.C. Johnson (A Family Company) in Racine, WI.

ABOUT ME: I am a fourth year senior studying biological systems engineering with an emphasis on food and bio-process engineering. I am on the UW-Madison women’s rowing team and I love playing piano, reading, baking cupcakes, and playing hockey. I am super excited to be co-leading the Boeing Tech Team and I am looking forward to another win at SWE nationals!

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I have been involved with SWE since the fall of my junior year. Since then, I have been actively involved in the Boeing Tech Team.

WORK EXPERIENCE: This summer I will be interning with Nestle USA in Iowa. Currently I work in the Babcock Dairy Plant helping produce and package cheese!

ABOUT ME: I am a 4th year in Mechanical Engineering, graduating in December 2014. In my free time I enjoy running, baking, and attending badger football and hockey games.

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I have been involved with SWE since the end of my freshman year. I have been a member of the Boeing Tech Team the past two years and am looking forward to being a co-leader of the team this year!

WORK EXPERIENCE: This summer I will be working for Ford on the chassis engineering team. Last summer I interned with GE-Aviation in the Boston area. I had a wonderful experience, Boston is a really fun and beautiful city, and I met a lot of great people! In 2012 I interned with Rockwell Automation in Milwaukee.

ABOUT ME: Originally from the East Coast, I made my way to Wisconsin in fifth grade and am now studying here at this wonderful university!

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: This is my 4th year in SWE. My freshman year, I was Mentoring Co-chair which was very fun to plan Big Sib Little Sib and organize Day on Campus. My sophomore year, I was Marketing Chair which was a blast to spread the word of SWE through different outlets. My junior year, I was the Girl Scouts Co-chair which was great to see children since I usually don’t as a college student. This year I have been Community Service chair, and I absolutely love it. I get to help SWE members get in touch with serving the university and Madison communities!

WORK EXPERIENCE: I’ve worked three separate terms as an ME intern for FedEx SmartPost in their Facilities Material Handling and Engineering department. Absolutely loved it and learned so much.

FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS: My favorite thing to do is attempting to experience all of Madison but I can’t keep up with the endless events and places to see here! I discover the most by taking runs throughout campus and observing what’s going on.

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE:I started getting involved with SWE first semester of my freshman year. I planned a few events through the Freshman Committee and got involved in the Engineering Tomorrow’s Careers (ETC) Camp Committee as well. Over the summer I was a counselor for ETC Camp, and now I’m a co-chair for the committee.

WORK EXPERIENCE:I have not had, but hope to get an engineering internship or co-op. During the school year, however, I work at Carson Gulley Center as an office assistant.

I got involved with SWE my freshman year. SWE is a great organization for me because I love helping girls learn about engineering and love meeting new people!

Jess and I will be planning an awesome EWI event this year. Don’t miss out!

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I was a general SWE member since my freshman year but was always hesitant to attend any other meetings. I finally got involved in Mentoring my Junior year and loved it! I like the Big Sib/Little Sib program, as well as volunteering for Day on Campus and helping out Fundraising.

ABOUT ME: This year I’m excited to once again be a part of the SWE officer team! My co-chair Abby and I are hoping to enhance the Girl Scout program so it continues to be a valuable resource for teaching young girls about the exciting world of engineering.

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I’ve been a general member since freshman year. Last year I was the School Outreach Chair and now I’m a Girl Scout Co-Chair. My involvement has always been focused on youth outreach, with the goal of spreading the idea of engineering as a path to a rewarding and successful career.

WORK EXPERIENCE: I’ve had three chemical engineering internships. I worked in adhesives product development for Bostik, Inc., in paints and coatings process improvement for Andersen Windows and Doors, and in global polyethylene process technology for the ExxonMobil Chemical Company. I recently accepted a full-time position with ExxonMobil.

I’m really excited to be girl scouts chair this year and see a whole new side of SWE!

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: Last year I was the Special Events co-chair, I love attending other events as well like volunteering and study nights with mentoring.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Worked at Subway for 3 years, I am a professional sandwich artist.

ABOUT ME: I love sitting at the Terrace watching the ducks, watching New Girl and the Big Bang Theory, flying along the lake (I am an FAA certified Private Pilot), watching movies with ridiculous CGI and effects, and riding my mom's old Schwinn bike. I also love cats.

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: My first two years at UW-Madison I was a general member within SWE and participated in various committees. Last year I was a Mentoring Committee Co-Chair for the fall semester before going abroad in the spring. I had a blast becoming more involved in this organization and I am excited to take on the position of Grad Affairs and continue to give back to the amazing organization!

WORK EXPERIENCE: This past summer I completed an internship with GE Aviation in Rockford, Il. I did not have the best experience with the city, but the work and people were fantastic! The previous summer I completed an internship with the NASA Dryden Flight Research Center. I gained so much valuable experience from these internships and am excited to see what next summer holds! On campus, I worked for Visitor and Information Programs as an Information Guide all of my freshman and sophomore year. Currently I am a student assistant for InterEGR 160 and am loving it so far!

FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS: Lay around! On Bascom Hill, Engineering Mall, the Terrace, wherever! I have found that the weather in Madison is usually beautiful (except when it’s too hot, too humid, too rainy, too cold, or too snowy…)!

FAVORITE CLASS/PROFESSOR: My favorite class was Math 319, Differential Equations, hands down. The professor, Vladimir Eyderman, was the best professor I have ever had.

ABOUT ME: Hey, I'm Kristin! I'm a Wisconsinite through and through meaning my true loves are the Packers, Badgers, Brewers, Bucks, cheese curds, brats, camping, fishing, snowmobiling, and, yes, even our winters. Other generic things that I like include watching movies, roller coasters, doodling in my notebooks, keeping an active lifestyle, ordering takeout, The Catcher in the Rye, cleaning, and envying my friends' non-engineering curricular.

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I got involved with SWE right away as a freshman and have been active in the organization ever since. I held the Girl Scout Co-Chair position my sophomore year and I'm now over enthused to use whatever creative ability I have as the Marketing Officer!

WORK EXPERIENCE: This past summer I had a blast working as a SOAR peer advisor for the College of Engineering. I currently work on campus in the Engineering General Resources Office and at the coffeehouse in Union South.

ABOUT ME: Hi SWEsters I’m Maddy, I am super energetic and basically hate sleeping ( I like getting up at 5 everyday). I love working out, specifically yoga/pilates, lifting, and dance. When I’m not working on homework or at SWE events I love wandering around Madison – I spent a summer in Madison and it was the best summer of my life, there is so much to do! Fun Fact: I am a little obsessed with red lipstick, so if you see someone on campus with red lipstick it’s probably me!

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I attended Day On Campus my senior year and have been in love with SWE ever since! I was a Distinguished Member spring and fall 2013, I basically try to attend every event I possibly can. I am so excited to Mentoring Committee co-chair this semester to help plan Day On Campus.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Pharmacy Tech.

FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS: I can’t pick just one. I love going Badger football games in the Fall, the famers market April through November and spending days at the terrace in the summer.

FAVORITE CLASS/PROFESSOR: MODERN PHYSICS! Because Quantum mechanics is pretty sweet

ABOUT ME: Hi everyone! I love the Badger pride in Madison and live for football games in Camp Randall. I enjoy traveling, hanging out with friends, and going out for breakfast. I love being on the lake and enjoy playing all kinds of sports.

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I attended Day on Campus as a senior in high school, and decided to get involved freshman year. I was Evening with Industry co-chair last year, went on the Spring Break trip to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, and can’t wait to be the Mentoring co-chair this year!

WORK EXPERIENCE: Research assistant in the UW Neuromuscular Biomechanics lab and Target Team Member.

FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS: Go terrace hopping at the various outdoor seating spots on campus buildings!

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I am currently Special Events co-chair, and in the past I have been the Boeing Team Tech Leader and the Girl Scout Officer Co-Chair. I have been involved with SWE “Biggest Loser”, mentoring, and Girl Scout days.

WORK EXPERIENCE: I have interned with the UW Hospital Facilities Planning Department, Roadview, Hydro-Thermal, and Hays Company. This summer I am looking forward to interning with Mortenson in Milwaukee.

FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS: I love hanging out at the union (especially in the summer), going to picnic point, and going to hockey games!

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: This is my second semester in SWE. I’ve been to multiple SWE events and meetings. I am the Freshman Committee Chair.

WORK EXPERIENCE: I worked as a cashier and supervisor at my family grocery store in Minneapolis.

ABOUT ME: Hey, I'm Kendra! Despite being born in gopher territory, I came to my senses and moved to Madison to become a badger. I love playing soccer, sand volleyball and going running during the months its warm enough to actually spend time outside. I'm currently studying to get my Private's Pilots license, and breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I'm also super stoked to be SWE officer this semester!!

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I've been a general member since my freshman year, and this is my first semester as an officer. I've been involved with a lot of different activities such as Big Sib/Little Sib, Biggest Loser, volunteer events through community service and EWI. I've also been a distinguished member several semesters.

WORK EXPERIENCE: I worked in a BSE Lab on campus for most of my college career.

FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS: So many things to choose from! But my favorites include hanging out at the terrace during the summer and jumping around at Camp Randall during football games.
