ABOUT ME: I've been involved with SWE since my freshman year, I have been an officer since second semester freshmen year, and have been involved in almost every aspect of SWE. I am SO excited to be the president this year and am excited for all the great things we are going to do. Other than SWE, I try to spend a lot of time outdoors or I'm painting. MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE:Special Events co-chair, Girl Scouts co-chair, VP External Relations, and I have been involved in all of our committees in some way throughout the years.


WORK EXPERIENCE: Der Rathskellar, Mechanical Engineering Office, and this past summer I interned at Miniature Precision Components.

ABOUT ME:Hey! I'm Meghan and I am a senior studying Industrial Engineering at the best university in the world (I'm not biased or anything...)! When I'm not in class or working, I love to bake, read, run around the lake, play volleyball, spend time with my friends and family, travel, and especially follow the Packers and Badger sports teams! This is my second year as a SWE officer and I couldn't be more excited! I'd love to see you at different events throughout the semester and I look forward to meeting all of the SWEsters!

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE:I have been involved in SWE since my freshman year of college. Throughout the past three years, I have helped with Day on Campus (which I also attended during my senior year of high school!), Big Sib/Little Sib, outreach events, attended two SWE regional conferences (at the University of Minnesota my freshman year and at Notre Dame my junior year), and many outreach and volunteering events. I served as community service officer during my junior year and loved reaching out to the community and organizing different events such as blood drives, trick-or-treating for canned goods, and a science and engineering fair. This year I will be the Vice President of Internal Relations. I will be planning our trips to the Regional and National SWE conferences, so I hope you’ll join me as they are always a blast and a great way to meet your fellow SWEsters!

WORK EXPERIENCE: I co-oped during the spring semester of 2014 at Avon Hi-Life, a rubber manufacturing company in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin, as a quality and improvements intern. During the summer of 2014, I interned at AbbVie, a biopharmaceutical company in North Chicago, IL, in the operations capital planning department. This past summer, I returned to AbbVie and worked in the packaging engineering department. I greatly enjoyed and learned from these work experiences, and I'd love to talk to anyone about them!

FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS: Watch Badger basketball games at the Kohl Center, walk around the farmer's market on the Square, and relax on the Terrace on a nice sunny day!

FAVORITE CLASS/PROFESSOR: I loved ISyE 323 (Operations Research) with Professor Luedtke!

OTHER ACTIVITIES AND ORGANIZATIONS: I am involved with St. Paul's (the Catholic church on campus) and the Institute of Industrial Engineers. I am also a tour guide for the College of Engineering, so if you see me giving a tour, please wave and say hi!

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I’ve basically done some sort activity with almost every committee of SWE! I try to attend all the events that I can. Specifically, I’ve been a 2-time ETC camp counselor and 2-time Distinguished Member!

ABOUT ME: I am the sixth child of 8. I was involved in a lot of extra curricular activities and sports as a high school student, but I am focusing on only a couple activities here on UW-Madison campus.

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I was the Freshmen Committee Chair as well as the Technical Communications Chair. I also try to go to as many SWE events as I can because they're all super helpful AND fun!

WORK EXPERIENCE: I worked as a cashier and supervisor at my family grocery store in Minneapolis. I am currently working for the Multicultural Student Center here on campus as the Web manager.

FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS: I like to play tennis on the lakeshore tennis courts.

: Hi SWEsters I’m Maddy, I am super energetic and basically hate sleeping ( I like getting up at 5 everyday). I love working out, specifically yoga/pilates, lifting, and dance. When I’m not working on homework or at SWE events I love wandering around Madison – I spent a summer in Madison and it was the best summer of my life, there is so much to do! Fun Fact: I am a little obsessed with red lipstick, so if you see someone on campus with red lipstick it’s probably me!


MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I attended Day On Campus my senior year and have been in love with SWE ever since! I was a Distinguished Member spring and fall 2013, I basically try to attend every event I possibly can. Last semester I was a mentoring committee co-chair and had a blast planning for Day on Campus! I am super excited to be the School Outreach officer this year and get kids excited about STEM!

WORK EXPERIENCE: Pharmacy Tech.

FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS: I can’t pick just one. I love going Badger football games in the Fall, the famers market April through November and spending days at the terrace in the summer.

ABOUT ME: Hey everyone! I’m Robyn and I'm very excited to be VP of Finance this year! Some of my favorite things include downhill skiing, running, biking, Badger sports especially hockey, ice cream, Thai food and SWE, of course! It’s going to be a great year!


MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: This will be my third year in SWE! Last year, I was Fundraising Officer and Finance Elect but I’ve been involved in most of the groups in SWE, especially community service, mentoring and my favorite, Sweatin’ with SWE!


WORK EXPERIENCE: I worked at a frozen yogurt store for two years. Two summers ago, I interned with Altria in Chicago and this past summer, I interned with Pepsi in Oshkosh.

ABOUT ME: I am a junior in Mechanical Engineering who has loved her 2 and a half years at UW Madison. Outside of class and SWE, I work at the Liz Waters dining hall and do research for the Polymer Engineering Center. I like to read, swim, bake, and run in my free time. I am fascinated by light shows and especially enjoy concerts, which Madison luckily has a lot of! And nothing beats taking some time off to hang out with my friends.

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I have been involved with SWE since my freshman year. During my sophomore year, I decided to check out the Boeing Tech Team and am very happy I did! I started off as the team secretary and now am looking forward to continuing my involvement as the leader of the 2015 team.

ABOUT ME: I've been at UW for a year now and I've fallen in love with the midwest! When I'm not studying or in class I like to spend my time doing student org stuff, baking, or watching awful reality TV shows.

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I joined in the fall of 2013 but did not get super involved until spring time. Then, I worked with freshman committee, went on a spring break trip to NC with some SWE gals, and tried to volunteer for as much as I could!

WORK EXPERIENCE: I used to work at Whipper Snappers Wardrobe Exchange in my hometown, but nowadays I just work at good ol' Union South

ABOUT ME: I’ve been a huge physics geek my whole life and my dream is to do groundbreaking research at a physics lab (think the LHC at CERN!) I grew up near Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory and spent a lot of time there in high school attending lectures and tours. I’m also a huge feminist and led a club at my high school called GEMS (Girl Engineers, Mathematicians, and Scientists), so joining SWE in college was a must!

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I attended Day on Campus during the spring of my senior year in high school. Come first semester of my freshman year, I joined as soon as I could. I attended a ton of SWE events, multiple times a week, won SWEster of the month in February and earned a distinguished member award in May. I was an ETC Camp counselor this past summer and I’m incredibly excited to be an ETC Camp CoChair this year!

WORK EXPERIENCE: I worked at Cold Stone Creamery as a summer job in high school. We sing Cold Stone themed songs every time we get a tip!

FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS: Eating food from one of the food carts while sitting on the pier by Lake Mendota.

ABOUT ME: I lived in the same town my entire life until I came to Madison last year, so I love being somewhere new and exploring around campus. I love playing tennis here when it’s warm out and snowboarding when its not. I am FASCINATED by 3-D printers and dream about using them to help people, whether they need a prosthetic arm or a tracheal splint, the possibilities are endless!


MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I joined SWE freshman year and was a counselor for ETC Camp this past summer. It was such a blast and I am thrilled to hold my first officer position this year as an ETC Camp CoChair!

WORK EXPERIENCE: During high school I worked at Skippy’s Gyros restaurant and for the past two summers I have been a lifeguard and supervisor for Pools Plus, Inc. back in Illinois. I am looking to get my first engineering internship this summer.

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE:I heard about SWE in high school through ETC camp and Day on Campus. Freshman year I was a distinguished member both fall and spring semesters and worked as an ETC camp counselor. My sophomore year I was on the officer team as a Special Events Co-Chair. This year I’m super excited to plan Evening with Industry for the Spring semester!

WORK EXPERIENCE
:I spent this past summer interning at ACS Group in New Berlin, Wi. I had my first experience in the lean manufacturing world and worked to help improve processes by cutting waste and improving ergonomics.

FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS: I love to do all the Madison staples like have ice cream at the terrace, run to Picnic Point on a fall day, and enjoy a heated Badger football game at Camp Randall. I also can’t leave out sledding down Bascom Hill on dining hall trays with most of my freshman floor.

FAVORITE CLASS/PROFESSOR: Call me crazy, but I absolutely loved Math 222 with Jen Beichman. My favorite IE class so far has been ISyE 315 with Terry Mann!

ABOUT ME: I have a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Michigan State University (2013) and recently moved to Madison to start my graduate degree in EC&T. My research project deals with transformation of organic contaminants in soil systems. I spend a lot of time in the lab, but in my free time I like to do crossfit, ride my bike, or go snowboarding.

WORK EXPERIENCE:As an undergraduate I was a chemistry tutor for two years and worked in two different research labs for a semester each (one in electrochemistry and the other in surface science). After college I spent a year working as an X-ray diffraction technologist at a company in Michigan called Proto Manufacturing, Inc.

ABOUT ME
: I have a type A personality and I love to stay busy. My two main commitments include SWE and Alpha Phi, a sorority here on campus. I also love to practice yoga at Inner Fire Yoga. I am passionate and dedicated, but I love to have fun exploring the restaurant scene on campus. At home I really loved interacting and working with children, so I’m thrilled to begin work for my position as School Outreach officer.


FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS: I’m a major foodie so checking out the restaurants on State Street and around the Capital is my favorite. I also enjoy getting a snack at the food trucks on the sunny days we get.

ABOUT ME: Hello all who are reading my SWE bio! My name is Maureen, or Mo, I am currently a sophomore here at UW-Madison and I love everything about the city of Madison and what it means to be a Badger. I am very excited to be one of your special events officers this year and I can’t wait to start planning fun activities for all of my SWEsters!


MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: I joined my freshman year and was a DM both semesters. Special Events is my first officer position.


WORK EXPERIENCE: I have worked retail at Michael’s Arts and Crafts, waitressed at Crandall’s on State Street, and now currently working as the Creative Director at WSUM 91.7FM, the student radio station on campus. Currently I have no engineering job experience but I am looking for my first internship opportunity this coming 2015 fall semester.


FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS: Enjoying a beautiful day in Madison sailing on Lake Mendota, going for a run to any of the beautiful lakes in Madison (mostly Mendota, Monona, or Wingra), hanging out with friends, DJ-ing my music show at WSUM, and, of course, Badger Football game days.


FAVORITE CLASS/PROFESSOR: My favorite class would be any of my German classes (I have taken German for 6 years), and my favorite professor would be my amazing EPD 155 professor, Christine Stephenson, as well as the wonderful TA’s in the German department.

OTHER ACTIVITIES AND ORGANIZATIONS: Other Activities: Throwing on the wheel at Wheelhouse Studios, yoga, sailing, soccer, running, and rock climbing. Other Organizations: DJ and Creative Director at WSUM 91.7FM, member of Hoofers Sailing and Mountaineering and Steering Committee Member of the Chazen Ambassadors.

ABOUT ME: I love badger sports! I also love to bake, read, eat pancakes at Mickie's, and hang out at the Terrace with friends. I am excited to get to know you all!


MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE:Freshmen year I wasn't too involved, but my sophomore year I got really into SWE. I was in a family with Big Sib/Little Sib both semesters and loved it. I volunteered some with the community service committee. I also went to Regionals this spring which I really recommend!


WORK EXPERIENCE:   I interned the summer of 2015 with H.B. Fuller, a chemical adhesives company.


FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS: It is hard to pick just one, but if I had to it would be football game days!


FAVORITE CLASS/PROFESSOR: CBE 310- First Semester Thermodynamics with Professor Murphy. It combined the math and science I have been learning for years, and she taught it so well.

ABOUT ME: Hi everyone! I am so exited to be the Technical Communications officer this year. I love being a badger and SWE is a huge part of my UW Madison experience. When I'm not in class, studying, or at the SWE office, you can usually find me reading on Bascom Hill or exploring campus.

MY INVOLVEMENT WITH SWE: Last year I was one of the Girl Scout Committee Co-Chairs which was so much fun! I also have participated in School Outreach events, attended many fun activities with the Speacial Events committe, and I love going to SWE Knitting nights. I alos went to Reagionals this past year: an amazing experience I recomend to every SWEster!

WORK EXPERIENCE: In Minneapolis I worked at a litte breakfast cafe, and in Madison I have worked at the UW Survey Center.

FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS: I love exploring all of the libraries and finding cozy new places to study as well as enjoyng the terrace on sunny days.


OTHER ACTIVITIES AND ORGANIZATIONS: I love to play guitar and read in my spare time. This semester I plan to become more involved with Slow Foods Madison and Hoofer outing club.
