Description
Wisconsin Institute for Discovery (WID), one of the UW-Madison’s newest additions, is a research institute with a mission of enhancing human health and welfare through interdisciplinary research spanning biotechnology, nanotechnology, and information technologies.
WID is housed in one structure with the private, not-for-profit Morgridge Institute for Research (MIR). It contains approximately 106,000 assignable square feet of research space, including wet and dry laboratories, research support areas, core facilities and offices. The building also is home to teaching labs, designed as "dream" collaborative learning environments. The labs host a wide range of education programs for K-12 and college students, science teachers and the public.
This tour will include the public level of the WID and the teaching labs.

Description
The Babcock Hall Dairy Plant has a long history that has evolved into signature products for the University of Wisconsin-Madison Campus. The plant was built in 1951, and currently functions as the oldest university dairy plant building in the United States. The plant is in existence to fulfill its mission to support research, teaching, and outreach of the UW Food Science Department, while producing premium quality dairy products for the university and community. The tour includes ice cream!

Description
As one of Wisconsin’s 56 breweries, Capital Brewery is one of Madison’s largest breweries. Currently, Capital Brewery produces up to 16 different beers per year, and produces 22,000 barrels annually. Much of the brewing equipment currently used in the brewery, including the two copper brewing kettles, came from the Hoxter Brewery in Germany. At the heart of the operation is an excellent refrigeration system that enables the brewery to produce extremely high quality lager beers.
This tour includes beer tasting.
