NAME: Emily Vesper

YEAR: Senior

MAJOR: Industrial & Systems Engineering

HOMETOWN: Wausau, WI

SWE INVOLVEMENTI joined SWE my freshman year as a part of the New Member Committee and the Mentoring Committee during first semester. Second semester of my freshman year, I was the Technical Communications officer, and I also helped at a few Girl Scout Patch Days as a part of the Volunteer Leadership Committee. My sophomore year, I planned SWE’s annual formal dinner and career fair in the spring as the Evening with Industry officer. My junior year, I managed our corporate contacts and planned our monthly section meetings as our VP of External Relations. This year, as section President, I’ve shifted my perspective to look at the organization as a whole. I’ve specifically enjoyed learning more about the finance piece of the organization and becoming more involved in our outreach initiatives.

I’ve also been heavily involved in the development of our new International Outreach program. In January 2019, I volunteered in Jodhpur, India for 10 days where our group led STEM workshops to facilitate problem-solving and teamwork in women and children empowerment centers.

In the Society of Women Engineers,  I was a SWE Future Leader (SWEFL) in the early track and I judged the outreach awards for SWE’s regional conference in March 2019. This year, I am again a SWEFL, but in the late track.

JOB EXPERIENCEDuring the summer of 2017, I was an Industrial Engineering Intern for Wausau Supply Company. I spent the summer of 2018 in Milwaukee, WI as a Global Product Supply intern for S.C. Johnson. In summer 2019, I moved to Minneapolis, MN to work as a Global Strategic Sourcing Intern for H.B. Fuller. In August 2020, I will be starting full-time with Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, OH as an Initiative Operations Leader in Shave Care. I am looking forward to exploring a new city and starting my supply chain career!

FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUSUnfortunately, football season is over, but I’ll always remember fall days spent cheering on the badgers. During the spring you can often find me soaking up the sun on Engineering Mall while socializing with friends or attempting to study on the third floor of the Engineering Centers Building.

FAVORITE BABCOCK ICE CREAM FLAVOR: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

OTHER CAMPUS INVOLVEMENTFrom fall 2016 to fall 2018, I was a part of Badger Volunteers where I volunteered at Lapham Elementary School’s after school program and at REACH-A-Child. During the 2017-18 school year, I was a Finance Intern for Slow Food UW’s Family Dinner Nights on Monday evenings.
