NAME: Emily Vesper
MAJOR: Industrial & Systems Engineering
HOMETOWN: Wausau, WI
SWE INVOLVEMENT: I joined SWE my freshman year as a part of the New Member Committee and the Mentoring Committee during first semester. Second semester of my freshman year, I was the Technical Communications officer, and I also helped at a few Girl Scout Patch Days as a part of the Volunteer Leadership Committee. My sophomore year, I planned SWE’s annual formal dinner and career fair in the spring as the Evening with Industry officer. My junior year, I managed our corporate contacts and planned our monthly section meetings as our VP of External Relations. I am looking forward to taking on the role of President this year!
I’ve also been heavily involved in the development of our new International Outreach program. In January 2019, I volunteered in Jodhpur, India for 10 days where our group led STEM workshops to facilitate problem-solving and teamwork in women and children empowerment centers.
Last year, I was involved in the national SWE organization as a SWE Future Leader and I judged the outreach awards for SWE’s regional conference in March.
JOB EXPERIENCE: During the summer of 2017, I was an Industrial Engineering Intern for Wausau Supply Company. I spent the summer of 2018 in Milwaukee, WI as a Global Product Supply intern for S.C. Johnson. I will be living in Minneapolis, MN during summer 2019 where I will be working as a Sourcing Intern for H.B. Fuller.
FAVORITE THING TO DO ON CAMPUS: During the fall I love going to football games, and during the spring you can often find me soaking up the sun on Engineering Mall. I also like to walk to Picnic Point and enjoy the eclectic nature of State Street.
