Zoe Zanella

Hello! My name is Zoe Zanella and I am the New Member Committee Officer.  I am a Sophomore studying Biochemistry & Human Development and Family Studies with hopes of attending medical school.  You can most likely find me attending SWE events and studying, but I also love shopping on State Street with my roommates. LOOKING BACK AT LAST YEARS NEW MEMBER COMMITTEE EVENTS

New Member Committee had an amazing Spring 2019 Semester!  Through a big outreach event and our amazing socials, SWE’s New Member Committee was very busy!

Our big project was preparing for Engineering Expo. This is an annual event hosted by the College of Engineering. Student orgs have the opportunity to participate in this event with exhibits to showcase engineering to kids of all ages. SWE’s exhibit had great activities which included a zipline competition, slime making, Makey Makey Boards, and marshmallow toothpick bridges. We had an Expo Committee that met on a weekly basis and helped make this event a huge success.  SWE loves participating in this event to give back to the community while encouraging everyone, especially young girls, to pursue STEM majors!  We are excited for EXPO 2020!

New Member Committee also had three socials including an ice cream social, cupcake decorating social, and a bowling social! The ice cream social was our kickoff meeting. We brainstormed fun ideas for the semester and did some icebreakers. Our cupcake decorating social included over 100 cupcakes, 20 tubs of frosting, and more sprinkles than you can imagine. This was a great event with over 25 members in attendance. We partnered with Capital One for a bowling social in April. This fun social provided FREE bowling and food for over 20 members, while also giving attendees the opportunity to network with the representatives.
